Christy's Battle Is Not Over Yet!

** UPDATE**

Hi, I am Susan. I am here to ask for some help for my sister-in-law, Christy Myers-Eslinger.

Christy was diagnosed with breast cancer in June, and the following two months have been a blur. First, there were all the tests to determine if it was cancer. Then came the first surgery, a double mastectomy, followed by the second surgery to remove more affected lymph glands and, put in the port used for chemotherapy treatments.

It all sounds very straightforward until you dig into the details, the hidden, and not-so-hidden out-of-pocket expenses related to all this medical care. Even with her insurance coverage, she has deductibles, prescription medications, sterile supplies and increased nutritional needs that are not covered expenses. Something as simple as a compression sleeve used to prevent swelling and lymphedema (a chronic condition often brought on by the removal of the lymph nodes) has a price tag starting at $100 and just goes up from there.

With the battle details out of the way, I want to tell you about an amazing woman I am lucky enough to call family.
Christy is a Ph.D. student who is very close to completing her education. The focus of her schooling has been the research into curing auto-immune diseases. I will add a video of her explaining her research in her own words. Her choice to research these diseases was not random. Her wife (my sister) of 15 years has an auto-immune disease, and Christy very much wants to find a cure for her, so much so that she left her job as a Paramedic to focus on her education full time.
With her passion for knowledge and her incredible selfless nature, I have no doubt she will make great strides in the ongoing battle to find cures for diseases that debilitate so many of us. Christy is the truest example of what it means to be a caregiver, not just because of her intelligence but because of her heart. It takes a genuinely kind soul to do what she has done in her life.

My goal with this fundraising effort is simple. Christy needs to focus on the battle against the cancer that is attacking her body, and with the stress of financial hardships, healing and remaining positive can become extremely difficult. I am not seeking riches for anyone; I need your help making this battle a little less intimidating. If you do not feel comfortable making a donation via this page and would like to help in some way, please feel free to reach out to me directly and I will provide you with her mailing address and ideas (if you'd like) for items that will be of need to her.

Thank you so much for your help and generosity. This fight against cancer takes a village!
