Christy's Journey: A Family's Fight Against Cancer

On March 18, 2024 our dear friend Christy Gelting was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then she had 6 surgeries and chemotherapy. In April, she had a double masectomy. During her recovery from surgery she had an unexpected rush to the OR and stay in the hospital due to infection. In May, she began chemo followed by an organ biopsy in August. September, there was a surgery to replace the expander. In October, she had an additional organ biopsy and procedures to test for cancer in other areas of her body. Then, two additional surgeries in December.

It was quite the year for the Gelting family! By the grace of God she is now cancer free. However, she is continuing to go to the cancer center every 6 months and taking medications at home for the next 10 years. The aggressiveness of her cancer requires continued medical prevention to ensure she remains cancer free. Her faith in God through this whole process has been inspiring to those around her. Even in her most painful moments she was encouraging others and pointing them to Jesus.

In hopes of allowing Christy more time to recover and spend precious time with her family we'd love to help with the cost of treatments. Any contributions big or small will help. Please keep her in your prayers as she continues to recover. We'd love for her to be able to continue to focus on getting her strength back and recovering without a financial burden. We also want her to be able to focus on homeschooling her 3 beautiful children without needing additional time away to cover past and ongoing expenses from cancer and preventative treatments.

Cancer is a unique illness as it is fought as a family. Her husband and children were an amazing support to her during this and we want to bless them as well with the gift of time with Christy.
