Help Chrystian Valdez's Family
Donation protected
Chrystian Valdez was killed Saturday, August 11, 2018 by a stray bullet in East Oakland. Chrystian is survived by his wife, Maria, and four young children; he has also been a dedicated employee of Bay Area Beverage Company since 2002. He was hardworking, dedicated and loved his job.
Valdez was a resident of Oakland where was fatally shot at the 4400 block of International Boulevard. Police say another man was the intended target, and was wounded after being hit by one of the shots fired; he is expected to recover. Unfortunately, one of the bullets fired by the gunman hit Valdez, who passed away at the scene.
Chrystian's friends, family and co-workers are still in disbelief over the news of his death. Chrystian's wife, Maria, said "he was the rock of the family; he just kept us all together." She said their children are going to have a hard time growing up without a father, but she wants to do everything she can to keep their lives as normal as possible. Her goal now is to keep them focused on their studies in order to pursue college later in life.
The absence of Chrystian's income is going to take a financial burden on their household. We are asking for the community to come together to help support his wife and children. All funds raised will be given directly to Maria to help support their family in this time of need.
As part of his extended family we are taking it upon ourselves to show the Valdez family that Chrystian was an important part of our team and that he, and they, matter. Amongst other things, we have started this fundraiser to support Chrystian's wife and children. Bay Area Beverage will match all employee/supplier contributions up to $10,000. We are also contributing significant financial resources in the form of a reward to help find Chrystian's killer.
If you are unable to donate, please share the story with those you know and say a prayer for the Valdez family.
Thank you,
TJ, Todd, Max, Janelle, Daniel & Coralyn
