Church Renovation in Wood Green

Donation protected
Grace Baptist Church Wood Green wants to transform our community through evangelism and supporting youth, families, and vulnerable people.

We need to raise £65,000 to renovate a Church Hall that will be used to address issues in our community to provide accommodation for new staff.

The Problem

- Over 8000 people do not have faith in Jesus Christ and have not heard the gospel

- The crime rate in Noel Park is more than 3 times the London average (a mostly young area). The figures cover all types of crimes from drug use to theft to violence

- The number of vulnerable people without support in our area is incredibly high. This includes one-person households of people aged 65 and over, asylum seekers, single-parent households with dependent children and people with mental health conditions.

The Solution

- Train and equip more gospel workers through Grace Baptist Church Wood Green

- Provide accommodation for a Church worker and short term missionaries

- Increase the number of Church services, evangelistic events, and opportunities for residents to hear God's word

- Create Youth Groups and mentoring to support disadvantaged and neglected young people

- Host a Mother's & Toddlers Group to support vulnerable families and provide community

The Project

In order to do this, we need to raise £65000 to renovate an existing, but run-down, Church building.

We will renovate the existing structure by creating 1 more meeting room (for study space, group training and seminars), 2 toilets and a kitchen.  We will also create a new living space containing 2 bedrooms, a shower and a shared space. This will be for a Church staff member, short term interns and short term missionaries.

The entire project will cost £130,000, but £65,000 has been donated by the Church Growth Trust. We are also seeking funding from Churches, philanthropists and grant organisations.

If we are successful in raising the total amount, in the next 5 years we will be able to:

- Work with over 400 Mothers and Toddlers through our groups

- Mentor and discipleship over 200 youth in the local area through our Youth Group

- Provide accommodation for a Church worker and save £78,000 in housing costs

- Preach the gospel to over 2000 new people through evangelistic sessions

- Host over 20 training sessions for ministers and gospel workers

- Have over 320 church services and prayer meetings for new and existing Christians

The Church

The present congregation at Grace Baptist Church Wood Green (formerly known as Rehoboth Church and currently pastored by Ryan King and Charles Efedua) began in 2004. From the start, the church has been characterised by Christ-centred expository preaching and culture of evangelism.

In our lifetime, we have brought the good news of God’s grace in Jesus Christ to people locally, nationally, and globally. Through door-to-door work, local outreach, personal and small group Bible studies, 9 church plants, and setting up the Grace Baptist Partnership, we continue to preach and spread the gospel through our Church.

We have supported missionaries and Church leaders in Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe (don’t worry Australia – we’ll get to you eventually!). At our home in Park Ridings, we welcome people from a range of nationalities and are a very multicultural church!

Thank you for supporting our mission!
