Help us build a new playground in memory of Alice da Silva Aguiar and Bebe King

Churchtown Primary School, a vibrant and beloved community school in Southport, is raising funds for a new playground to honour the memory of two children, Alice and Bebe, who tragically lost their lives in the Southport stabbings in July 2024.

This new playground, which has been proposed by Alice’s parents as a way of honouring her memory, will serve as a joyful, healing space for all our pupils. It will be a place where they can do what children do best - play, explore and grow, and is designed to offer a variety of opportunities for over 700 children so they can each thrive in their own unique way.

This new playground will be a special space to remember Alice and Bebe, reflecting their characters and the joy they brought to Churchtown Primary.

Please donate what you can to help us create a playground that will carry their memories for years to come. We aim to raise £250,000, but we don’t want to stop there. Any additional funds raised will be distributed to local charities who are helping those affected by this tragedy.

How we're raising funds

In memory of Alice and Bebe, a number of staff members and friends of Churchtown Primary are taking part in the London Marathon and the Blackpool Festival of Running in April 2025.

Alice's father, Sergio Aguiar is also running the London Marathon, alongside our headteacher, Jinnie Payne. Members of staff from the school and across the Endeavour Learning Trust, which Churchtown Primary School is part of, are also running in memory of Alice and Bebe.

We are asking for your support in helping us reach our fundraising goal to make this new playground possible. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in bringing us closer to our goal.

Why we need your support

The current playground is too small for the number of children we have. While we creatively manage the space, the community has long expressed the need for its development. Now, more than ever, it’s time to make this vision a reality - a playground where the memories of Alice and Bebe can live on, and where children can find joy playing outside with their friends.

The funds we raise will go directly to developing a new, inclusive playground that reflects the love, hope, and resilience of our school community, as well as commemorating the energy and creativity of Alice and Bebe.

The new playground will not only be a fitting tribute to Alice and Bebe but also a safe, welcoming space for every child at Churchtown Primary.

Join us in remembering Alice and Bebe - and creating a future full of hope and joy.
