Ciara Evans Medical Journey

Hey, My name is Chloe, and I am Ciara's little sister. As many of you know, my sister is a very active mom, boyscout leader, RN, and many other things. On 5/22/2023, my sister had to have a right first rib resection with neurolysis, arteriolysis and scalenectomy due to her having to live with a condition known as Arterial and Neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome bilateral. Thoracic outlet syndrome is a rare group of disorders that cause pain in the neck and shoulder due to compression of the nerves and blood vessels. With that being said, the surgery she had to have done was a very complex surgery so finding a doctor that would take her case was complicated.
She finally got a doctor to accept her case, however, the doctor is in Maryland at Johns Hopkins hospital. Her surgeon, Dr. Lum, is the leading physician in the country for her condition TOS. Athough my sister was very hesitant to have the surgery done due to the underlying bills and heavy therapy that would come with it, she ultimately decided she needed to have it done so she can go back to being active in her childrens lives and to continue her role as a boy scout leader and to help her to work more safely while caring for others.
My sister cannot work for 3 months and will be undergoing very extensive Physical Therapy 3 days a week for 12 weeks. She also will have to go back in a year to have the other side done as well. My sister has always been there for others and would give the shirt off her back to anyone. With that being said, she also isn't one that asks for help, so that is why I am creating this for her. Any donations will be towards medical bills and if any is left it will go towards her recovery with therapy and bills. Thank you to all that have helped!!!
