September Update:
Hi friends of Cindy,
The foundation's offer has been accepted and we are now only 10k away from being able to purchase the Cindy Walker home. We have closing scheduled for the end of the month and we need all of help we can get to cross this first finish line.
Please share this update and help us save this piece of music history!
All donations are tax deductible. For more information you can message Lindsay Liepman at [email redacted].
More information:
The historic home of legendary Songwriter Cindy Walker is close to being condemned and lost forever due to time and circumstance. We can't let that happen!
In 1997, Cindy was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. She wrote hits for some of music's biggest stars, including Elvis, Roy Orbison, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Bob Wills, Bing Crosby, Gene Autry and more. Her hit "You Don't Know Me" is now a standard and has been recorded by more than two dozen artists since she first wrote it for Eddy Arnold.
Cindy lived in the small town of Mexia, Texas, for more than five decades and wrote her biggest hits inside this home. So when I discovered the shape of the home while filming a documentary about Walker, I decided something had to be done to save this priceless piece of history.
The Cindy Walker Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to purchase the home from its current owner, apply for it to become a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and begin the restoration process.
This is a long journey, but the first step is to purchase the home.
All donations to the Cindy Walker Foundation are considered charitable contributions and tax-deductible.
