Unbreak Cindy's Back
This is Cindy. She has a big heart and is tough as nails. She has two boys 9 and 11. Cindy fell on the ice on the outside stairwell to her third floor apartment. She cracked one of the vertebra that connect the spine and the pelvis. She has been confined to her bed since then. She is able to get up and move into the bathroom using a walker. But moving with the walker causes excruciating pain. Sometimes her legs spasm uncontrollably and she can't leave the bed at all.
Her medical care is very challenging because she has state insurance. The doctors provide only a few appointments per week for state insurance patients. They pass her on to the next doctor and the next and no one provides her with care that will heal her.
Cindy has exhausted her personal resources for taking care of her bills. Her circumstances are dire. Her best friend paid her rent last month. Another paid her utilities. I'm starting this go-fund-me in the hopes that our community will reach out and give as much as they can to help one of our own. Cindy and her close friends are continuing to try to organize medical care that will help.
But the insurance situation makes that an extremely slow process, so it's going to take time until she can be healed and begin physical rehabilitation. In this critical time, we ask you to please share what you can with Cindy. Let's keep a roof over her head and food on her plate.
I am estimating her rent to be about $1200. Her utilities should be around $500/month, that leaves $300 for insurance copays, medication and food. I would love to blow her mind with how caring our community is and collect two or three months of expenses for her, since it likely will take at least that long. But I've set the goal for this to be one month. Let's go over.
Other ways you can help: You can bring her dinner, or lunch or groceries. Or email her a GrubHub or UberEats gift card. You can help with laundry. You can call her and keep her company. The isolation and pain are causing a deep depression and she needs all the support we can give her. If you have any influence within the medical community or social work skills you can bring to bear, your assistance would be immeasurable, please contact Cindy or message me on this platform.
