Cinnamon's Ear Amputation
Donation protected
Here is my story: I have a 16 year old thoroughbred named Cinnamon that needs a complete ear amputation via laser surgery at OSU. I accepted her as free horse 10 years ago. When she arrived she was skin and bones, full of fear, and had no respect or boundaries. She now has hundreds, maybe thousands of hours under saddle and is my ride or die best gal. She went from not having much of a chance and having gone through the auction, into the hands of a trainer that didn’t deserve her, and into my lap. We have competed in mountain trail, placing in the top rankings, she has worked along side the handicap, she has worked the rodeo…. One of her favorite things to do is ride through town to let complete strangers oogle over her and tell her how beautiful she is. Those rides always end up with a ride through the local coffee shop, Dutch Bros on River Road or Cup of Joe's in Veneta where she collects her peach smoothy. She has basically made everyone, including herself, so incredibly proud of her progress.
When I accepted her into the family she had a cataract that has now resulted in complete blindness in her right eye. We powered through that and came out on top because that is what Cinnamon does! But now she has developed sarcoids in her right ear. We had chemotherapy done on her last summer as well as surgery to have the ear scraped clean. They have come back with a vengeance and our local equine vet doesn’t feel confident in treating her with success. She has been reffered to OSU in Corvallis.
I have no doubt that Cinnamon, with her one good eye and one good ear, will continue to succeed, thrive, and to share her joy for life with everyone. She is a fighter! (Literally and figuratively! Lol)
So, here I am asking for your help in funding this surgery that will happen regardless of my financial status. Any help you can offer is going to make a difference for a little red horse that had all the odds stacked against her.
Thank you and God bless!
