Update Nov 16th: Cisco has made in through the night and will be heading into surgery to close his chest and abdomen.
On November 13th at 5:20, my cousin Cisco was in a horrific car wreck that has left him fighting for his life. KOB Channel 4 News has the news story.
Cisco left Wednesday morning for a new job. While on his way home, he called his wife. The call home was to let her know that he was 20 minutes from home as he would lose cell service on the unpaved portion of King Boulevard.
Wednesday night, Cisco was Life Flighted to University of New Mexico with life-threatening injuries. During transit to the hospital, his chest was cut open to perform cardiac massage. Upon arrival, he was rushed into emergency surgery to save his life. During surgery, the surgeon had to remove a portion of his lung and part of his liver while looking for any other damage to his internal organs. After the surgery, Cisco has open incisions in his chest, abdomen, and both legs because of severe swelling.
The horrific wreck has left him with severe injuries. He has multiple broken bones: back, pelvis, hip socket, both femurs, multiple breaks below the knees, multiple breaks in both feet, left humerus, complete tear of his left Achilles tendon, and multiple ligament tears in his knees.
Thursday evening, he was taken back into surgery to look for any other possible missed damaged organs and dead portions of his intestines. During the procedure, his heart stopped again and heroic measures were performed, saving his life.
Last night (Thursday), we sat with him and his wife and waited for his 4 adult children to arrive from Arizona. Cisco is a man who loves his family and children. He and his wife are currently living with his sick and aging uncle to help take care of him.
Cisco was the primary breadwinner in his little family.
As a family, we are looking at a long road ahead of him to a new life. The next seven days are critical as every day is a new battle.
This wreck has affected two families, ours and the Millers'. Our prayers go out to their family over this tragic crossing of paths. God bless and thank you for any help you can give; every prayer is a Godsend.
