Citizenship Study Guides & Donations for Refugees!
Tax deductible
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
$20 buys one book for a refugee studying to become an American citizen AND gives back roughly $9 in support of refugees across the country! Our goal is to provide Citizenship Prep study guides & support to International Rescue Committee (IRC) branches nationwide, providing the safety of citizenship & opportunities for immigrants to thrive in America!
BONUS POINTS:
Buy a book & test yourself! Only 4% of Americans can pass the citizenship exam. Purchase our book on Amazon to test (or teach) yourself & your family!
HOW YOUR MONEY WILL BE USED:
100% of profits from the sale of our book & any donations will provide Citizenship Prep study guides to refugees working towards naturalization, as well as provide funding for our local Atlanta IRC branch & branches across the country. That means your money goes 2X as far - help an immigrant obtain citizenship while ALSO supporting the IRC's life-changing efforts!
ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL RESCUE COMMITTEE: The IRC provides resettlement opportunities for refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, survivors of torture, and other immigrants. Children & teens are put into local schools that provide programming for refugee youth. Adults are taught basics like English, counting money, taking public transit, using a computer, and much more... then eventually, citizenship! As of 2020, over 94% of IRC’s refugee households in Georgia are economically self-sufficient within six months of arrival. And they've been doing this incredible work since 1933!
WHO WE ARE:
Mr. Bob is a kind and caring military veteran who loves history. Kelly is an artist, furniture maker & first generation American with personal ties to the refugee community. We met in 2017 while teaching a free citizenship preparation class at the IRC in Atlanta, Georgia. Together, we have nearly a decade of combined experience helping immigrants and refugees pass their citizenship exams to become American citizens! Now, we've co-written & hand-illustrated this simple, graphic guide to naturalization because the proper teaching resources for our ESL students just didn't exist. We knew what worked for our students & decided we could do it better, while also raising money for an organization we love! Our study guide has been used successfully in our citizenship classes & across the country ever since, by students from all around the world.
OUR HOPE:
1) That our simplified, graphic guide to citizenship helps many more immigrants become citizens than we could ever teach in the classroom ourselves. 2) That we can further support the work of the International Rescue Committee across America!
