City Tap House Philly Staff Relief

Hello to our vendors and partners, our collaborators, our families, our friends, and most importantly, our guests.

Strange days for all.
We hope this finds you coping with our new normal as healthy as possible.

As we begin our second week of semi quarantine, we are reaching out to ask for your help.  As you may know, our City Tap locations at Logan Square and University City closed on Monday, March 16th.

Last week, each of us, hourly and salaried staff members, were laid off.  This was done to give us the best opportunities to use resources from local, state and federal sources.  We, like many of our brothers and sisters in hospitality across Philadelphia and the US, are navigating unemployment and health care resources for the first time.  It's a daunting, dark process with an overwhelmed system.

However, there is light in this darkness.  We will come back from this.  Smarter, more capable and more empathetic than before. It will strengthen our hospitality community.

Hospitality teaches us to do what is necessary to succeed. This doesn’t feel like success. But it will. And when it does, that heart break will yield to collective and shared success.

It’s not that far off the horizon

In the meantime, WE NEED YOUR HELP.

This fund will be directly distributed by and to the bartenders, servers, line cooks, dishwashers, bussers, runner, hosts and managers.

Transparency in distributing funds raised is very important to us.

Staff members will need to "opt into receiving support" from this fund.

Learning from the lessons of other groups and independent restaurants over the past week, our fund will be distributed to our staff based on the average of hours worked over the last 4 weeks the restaurants were in operation.

We will break the total sum of donations into hourly shares.  These hourly shares will be multiplied by the average number of hours worked over 4 weeks by employees who opt into the program.

We are targeting the first date to distribute funds as Monday, April 6th.

For clarity this fund is not being managed by any ownership of City Tap and Table 95 hospitality.

Any contribution matters.
We have over 100 hourly staff members between the two locations and all funds in this time are appreciated.

We are hopeful for a healthy resolution to this pandemic for you and yours.
We are hopeful to resume our jobs at City Tap.
We are hopeful to see you at the bar, sooner than later, so we can thank you in person for your generosity in these unprecedented times.

Until then...pour yourself a great beer in a tall glass!
