Save Vinny’s Brain
After being diagnosed with High Grade Cerebral Stenosis and later found to be a rare disease called Moyamoya, Vince Murdock was pulled from the UFC Minneapolis event in June. After returning back to Sacramento for further testing to fully understand the seriousness of what his situation entails, it has been revealed that he needs to undergo a cerebral artery bypass, which will also require a craniotomy for the bypass to occur by recommendation of Kaiser and Stanford (Dr. Steinburg) .
Moyamoya is a rare condition in which the blood vessels (internal carotid arteries) that supply blood to the brain become narrowed. This limits the flow of blood to the brain, puts them at risk for stroke, and often times left untreated can result in death. Right now it’s unknown the cause of the condition, possibly genetics. (note that this condition is not fight related) The results of Murdocks MRA,MRI,CT scans show a 95%to complete blockage in the left side of the brain, allowing little to no blood flow, while managing to get blood supply from its reserves or compensation due to the narrowing. There is no telling how long it has been managing or how much longer it will continue compensate for narrowing/blockage. Upon a further consultation with Dr.Steinburg of Stanford University, a more in-depth look at Vincent s scans show stoke like signs, and recommends a sense of urgency for surgery.
Murdock has decided on surgery with Dr.steinburg Of Stanford University. Dr.Steinburg is a leader in the world of the study Moyamoya with over 1800 cerebral bypass procedures related to the condition of which are highly successful. We strongly believe no one is more qualified then him to present the best outcome for Murdock’s surgery. Also noted that upon a successful surgery, Dr.Steinburg confirms that being fit to compete (UFC) may well within the possibility's given the out come of surgery.
With help from Stanford, we were able to get the cost of surgery down by over 50% putting the cost to 195k (also depending how the surgery goes)
surgery is set for Nov 13 giving a successful campaign.
