A family in need
Hello. My name is Nigel. I didn't want to do this but people having been telling me to because of our situation. We got a business loan to buy a building in Wisbech in order to open an alternative shop and have a business that can work around the children's needs.
We opened it so customers wouldn't have to travel miles and miles to get to a similar shop. Since we've opened we have helped so many people deal with mental health issues, references for jobs, move house and many other things. A lot of our customers have become close friends.
We then found out the loan was mis-sold by an unregulated company. Our family home had a charge put over it. They involved another company. We had to sell our business premises and family home to pay them off. We managed to sell the shop building but the house, unfortunately, did not. Because of this, the company repossessed our home on the 2nd April. This made 5 people homeless, including a 15 year old child with disabilities,an 11 year old and and adult with disabilities. The shop isn't doing enough business to pay the rent and bills or to support the family. We are working with home link and the council to find an accommodation, but the emergency housing isn't ready. Customers have paid for us to stay in a travel lodge and cooking us because they couldn't see our kids in a hostel. This has meant splitting up the whole family including our beloved pets, which won't be allowed in a temporary house. We are asking for any help so we can do our best for our family. This has caused so much mental and emotional turmoil. It's hard to explain to a child with a brain condition why the family is this way and why her dogs, which are her comfort blanket, are not with us. We are hoping to put the money towards a deposit and rent when we eventually get a place, accommodation if we don't and food. Thank you so much for your time in reading this.
