Emergency Legal fees needed!

This fundraiser is for my amazing friend Amanda.

She is a single mom of a freshman in college. She has a heart of gold and she needs our help.

A little back story...

Amanda had a job, taking care of a sweet little old man, her kid was about to go to college, her car was running and life was good. Her confidence was on track. Nothing but clear skies ahead...

Then, September 1, 2021 came Hurricane Ida. Ida flooded her home and Amanda had to flee with her clothes, cat and car.

This was after the flood

Water level was this high.

Even the sink got rocked!

Not even 2 months later, October of 2021, Amanda was hit by a UPS truck, and just like that, her car was totaled, her body wrecked and once again her life was altered.

Her shoulder was so damaged that even the doctors were not sure what to do.

It's been 2 years and the pain and doctors are still going on.

But there was good news in her future!

May of 2023, as she was finally getting back on her feet with help from her friends and family, when she met a man who would change her life. "K". He swept her off her feet. He was everything she wanted in a partner. He was kind, caring, loving, attentive, funny.

This was the man she was going to spend the rest of her life with him. Even her family approved of "K."

He proposed and they were in the process of building a life together, moving in together, life was looking good...

When things took a turn.

In November 2023 "K" quit his job, he would stay up all night, he would disappear in the middle of the night and when she asked, he answers were vague.

But Amanda isnt one to push for answers, so she let it go.

Then, the day right before Thanksgiving, he withdrew all her money from the had bank. Her life savings, the money from the sale of her house after the flood was now gone.

Then he just up and left. Leaving Amanda stunned and penniless.

Now, if you know Amanda like I know Amanda , you would know that she isn't one to get angry. She is would wonder what she could have done differently, even if it wasn't her fault, (like the UPS truck running into HER)

What now? They were about to move to a new place, as the apartment lease was up but he never secured the place.

So there she was, in disbelief at age 43, alone, her kid in school, she had to move back in with her mother.

It was then that Amanda realized that she didn't have the key to the storage that they shared, so he agreed to meet her there to get her things out.

However, after a conversation with him, she knew she wasn’t going to go to the storage alone.

As a matter of fact, Amanda had to take a detour to the police station instead of the storage unit. (thank Gawd she did)

“K” then apologized for his behavior and wanted to make amends. Amanda agreed, plus he agreed to get her money back, and because love, well love clouds judgement.

Amanda’s mom rented her a hotel room while she was collecting her things from storage.

However, Amanda ended up in the emergency room with a double whammy, Covid and an ectopic pregnancy that she was miscarrying from.

During this time “K” was making amends like he promised. He took care of her at the hotel when she was discharged he continued to make amends.

Then they stayed at his place where he lived with a long time friend for a couple days and

Amanda realized her medical supplies and medications were missing, she called the hotel and they were not there.

Refusing to believe he would harm her, she was able to replace them and didnt think about it again.

Then they they headed out to visit her daughter, when “K” said he forgot something and they returned to his place to retrieve the items.

Shortly after their trip began they were stopped by the police. The POLICE!

To her disbelief, “K” was arrested, Amanda was cuffed and detained and at this point she had no idea what was going on.

It seems “K” did the unfathomable and Amanda was being questioned.

I cannot go into detail, but now Amanda now has to defend herself in court.

She found a lawyer, who heard her story, and agreed to take her on as a client. Between “K” taking all her money, legal fees Amanda needs help urgently.

So I am asking for help in raising funds to retain this lawyer. Amanda needs to come up with $15,000 urgently.
