Alex's Surgery Fund

Donation protected
Hello! My friend Alex was diagnosed with a rare disease in her legs called Lymphedema when she was fifteen. The disease caused daily tasks like walking and sitting to be extremely painful. It made doing the things she loved, even harder, like gymnastics and dance. Her parents put her in gymnastics and dance when she was two and she continued both sports up until she was eighteen. Alex was a fighter and continued gymnastics in college and competed as a Division 1 gymnast for the University of Maryland. The swelling caused by her disease always made it harder and more painful for her to put the kind of stress on her legs needed to compete as a Division 1 gymnast but she loved gymnastics and her team and continued to push through the pain.

Alex’s disease is extremely rare and there are very few doctors in the world who are able to conduct surgery to reduce the swelling and lessen the pain and discomfort. Alex has finally been chosen from the waiting list to have her surgery on January 21st, 2021. The surgery is very intricate and is called a lymphovenous bypass surgery.

This is a very costly series of surgeries that ranges upward of $30,000 dollars. We are trying to raise some money in order to help offset some of the medical costs of the surgery since insurance will not cover the entire surgery expense. I know these are extremely difficult times for everyone but if you all are able to help my friend Alex in any way I would greatly appreciate it!
