Today was a crushing day. I just finished sitting down with some dear friends, to help them plan their 9 year old daughter's funeral. After a year long battle with a brain tumor, Claire Elliott, passed away this morning. The heartbreak was palpable, but Claire is finally done suffering. Through it all Claire touched so many people and was loved by many. We thank all on behalf of her family for all of the love, service, kind gestures, and prayers over the last year.
After the hours of difficult planning and decision making at the funeral home today, I saw the weight bearing down on her parents. And then, the funeral planner, as delicately as possible, started laying out the costs, one after another and totaled it up to about $12,000. My heart sunk. As if losing their daughter wasn't hard enough, I knew they would not have the means to pay for this. Between medical expenses and decreasing time at work to care for Claire and seek treatment options, things have been heavy financially. So please help lighten their burden by donating whatever you can to help out. If we all lift a little, we can carry them through this time.
