Claire get to the World Powerlifting Championships
Donation protected
Just a little update… Thank you to everyone who has kindly donated and for taking the time to visit Claire’s just giving page. Claire is overwhelmed that she managed to raise the 5k to get her to Mongolia but there will be other comps which will all be self funded… for example the Europeans! So the page will be open for longer to help fund other trips!
Claire started powerlifting just 5 yrs ago after losing her dad. She used it as a way of coping with her grief, there is something about moving heavy weights when you’re feeling sad!
She got pretty good pretty quickly and after her first local club competition she entered the British Championships where she came away with a silver medal. This gave her the ultimate bug to push herself to new limits and see just how heavy she could lift and for the absolute end goal was to wear a team GBR uniform and represent the country at a sport that got her out of a dark hole.
Each year she has maintained silver medal position on the podium always just missing out on that top spot. That was until she went to the British Masters on 4th June and came back with Gold.
To say she is the strongest 84+ Masters 1 lifter is only a dream come true. However since then she has been lucky to have been selected and given a chance to compete at the world championships for her country, for team GBR.
This however is in Mongolia and as it’s a self funded sport it has to be all funded for by her.
Claire is asking for your help to make her dreams come true. This is going to cost approx £5000 if you could contribute what you can it would be greatly appreciated. Claire has given this chance so much thought but if her dad was still here he would say ‘Go for it Kiddo follow your dream’ so hopefully with your support she will go and make him and you all proud by standing on that platform giving it everything she has got, wearing that team GBR uniform Many thanks for taking your time to read this and for your generous contribution LFG
