Claire's Trip to Haiti with VHP
Donation protected
Dear friends and family,
Some of you have asked for an update about my January trip to Haiti. I will be traveling with students and the Vassar Haiti Project (www.thehaitiproject.org) to work with the people of Chermaitre, a remote Haitian mountain village, on their pathway toward sustainable development. I’m thrilled to tell you that the fund-raising is going very well—thanks to your generosity, we reached the initial goal of $5,000 and reset the goal to $7,000, all the better for this humanitarian effort! I am so grateful for each donation and message of support.
If you have not yet donated and would like to, there is still time. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible—just let me know where to send your receipt.
Thank you for your kind support of this mission. I will share your generosity with Chermaitre and their neighbors.
With much love,
Claire
A few details:
The Haiti Project has had enormous success in Chermaitre for more than 17 years, empowering people and profoundly changing their lives. Some accomplishments:
· A gravity-fed water system that reaches more than 500 families, eradicating typhoid and cholera.
· An elementary school, and support for 18 students in high school.
· A medical clinic serving 3,000 people, with two full-time nurses and a part-time doctor.
· A successful reforestation program.
· A women’s cooperative.
The area was badly hit by the recent earthquake, with several deaths and 40 houses lost. Your donation will help these families to rebuild.
