Claire’s Medical Expenses for Transplant

Hi friends, this is Alondra & Vera. This campaign is created to support our friend Claire Pak.

In early January, Claire was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. This is a very rare but serious condition in which the body stops producing new blood cells. Claire had been having fainting spells, bruising, and weakness. She was hospitalized for almost a week and was stabilized with blood transfusions and an antibiotic regimen.

Unfortunately, Claire was in the middle of switching jobs, so she does not have health insurance at this time. Treatment wise, she will need to follow up at the infusion center several times a week for blood transfusions and infection surveillance. She will unfortunately need chemotherapy prior to a bone marrow transplant. The entire treatment could last up to a year or more. She cannot work or be in any public places since catching any infections could be life-threatening. She was planning to have her wedding this March, but will have to put that on halt for her treatments. Claire is a wonderful human being who can bring a smile to anyone and is an excellent NICU nurse. Claire will constantly need platelet transfusions, please consider donating platelets towards her cause (more info on the flyer). Thanks to everyone that has donated towards Claire’s medical expenses. Claire is very thankful for the support she has received. I wanted to provide a quick update. Her blood numbers are still low. She goes to the infusion center every other day to receive platelets and/or red blood cells during her visits. The doctor is still trying to work out the details for chemo and the transplant. But in the meantime she found a match among her siblings for the transplant. Again, thanks to everyone who has prayed and donated. Please continue to lift her up in prayers, share this post and consider donating platelets.
