This is Austin. (Daniel Austin Dalton) He just turned 22 on the 13th of January. He should have been out celebrating his birthday but instead he was sitting in a doctors office having his swollen lymph nodes on his neck examined. From the expression on the doctors face we knew this could be serious.
Austin had been dealing with these swollen lymph nodes on his neck since October. It had taken a month for Austin to get into see this doctor. He was immediately scheduled for a surgical biopsy. 3 days later, January 16th Austin under went surgery to remove one of several lymph nodes from his neck. For the next 3 days Austin rested and gave the surgical site time to heal.
Come Monday, January 20th, he was back to work like it was any other day but it wasn't. The doctor called and told him to leave work, go home and pack a bag. Austin was told to head to Denver as quick as he could to be admitted to Anschutz. The pathology results showed Leukemia or Lymphoma. He was admitted that evening, had a bone marrow biopsy the net day, PET Scan the day after and by Thursday January 23rd we were having a meeting with his treatment team about the aggressive course of Chemo Austin was going to have to go through. Chemo was started the next day on Friday January 24th.
These past 13 days have been like waves of the ocean crashing over us one right after the other! It's been hard to keep up with, let alone process what our son is facing. He went from making great strides making a life for himself and setting a strong foundation for his future. He has been working so hard at his job as an Apprentice Electrician and going to school. In 13 days that all changed. He is a kind, proud young man; insists on making it on his own but his family is reaching out to ask for financial support for him.
Austin is in one of the best Hospitals in the Nation, receiving the best care possible. He will remain there for the next 30-45 days receiving aggressive chemo treatments, which means he will not be bringing in an income. The goal for the next 30 days is that this aggressive Chemo treatments will bring him into complete remission but his battle will continue as he will have to endure further Chemo treatments over the next 3 years. The medical bills are already piling up and he still has his regular living commitments like rent, utilities, car payments etc. It's impossible to predict the financial needs he will need. Right now we are just wanting to give him peace of mind so he can concentrate all his energy on conquering and over coming this cancer diagnosis. Even the smallest of amounts will help ease his financial burdens. Please share this as much as you can, on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or even by email. Please keep him in your daily prayers for strength and complete healing. We know he is in the Lords hands and have Faith he will overcome this as the true Warrior he is! His family thanks you with all our hearts for helping Austin, caring for him, praying for him and sharing his story. God bless you all.
