Classroom of Compassion in Las Vegas, NV
Donation protected
The Los Angeles-based nonprofit, Classroom of Compassion, will be creating 3 public altars to honor the three victims lost on December 6th in a shooting attack at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Three faculty members:
Naoko Takemaru, 69, an associate professor of Japanese studies. Naoko was described by her colleague, associate professor Margaret Harp, as a “triple-threat artist.” She was a professional concert pianist, embroidered and enjoyed making homemade chocolates
Jerry Cha-Jan Chang, 64, a professor of business at the university. Jerry had been teaching UNLV’s business school students for more than 20 years on “management information systems.
Patricia Navarro-Velez, 39, an assistant professor of accounting. Patricia had been teaching at the school for almost five years and had “devoted her career to educating the next generation of accountants,”
Help support us as we raise $1,000 for resources, supplies and travel. Your donation will DIRECTLY support the emotional wellness of the Las Vegas and University of Nevada communities and help shift the narrative to one of memory, community and support.
We will also be setting up our pop-up space on-site, similar to the one we did in Uvalde, TX, Highland Park, IL, Colorado Springs, CO and most recently Monterey Park, CA where individuals will have the opportunity to put together a small floral offering, write a note, or create a drawing or painting and leave it as part of this growing community memorial. We hope to provide art resources that promote healthy and safer expression of intense emotional experiences.
