Classroom of Compassion in Monterey Park, CA
Donation protected
The Los Angeles-based nonprofit, Classroom of Compassion, will be creating 11 public altars to honor the ten victims lost on the evening of January 21 at mass shooting attack in Monterey Park during their Lunar New Year Festival celebration.
Help support us as we raise $7,500 for resources, supplies and travel. Your donation will DIRECTLY support the emotional wellness of the Monterey Park community and the greater surrounding Los Angeles community as we begin mourning such a devastating act of violence.
We will also be setting up our pop-up space on-site, similar to the one we did in Uvalde, TX, Highland Park, IL and most recently Colorado Springs, CO where individuals will have the opportunity to put together a small floral offering, write a note, or create a drawing or painting and leave it as part of this growing community memorial. We hope to provide art resources that promote healthy and safer expression of intense emotional experiences.
(Above photos shows our healing popups on-site for the community in Colorado Springs, CO, Uvalde, TX and Highland Park, IL. More than 700 participants stopped by to create a flower arrangement and leave a small note to leave at the growing community altar spaces.)
We believe in the sanctity of life and work to honor the stories and memories of those lost in acts of violence. Please help us honor the lives of the eleven people lost.
