Clay is going to Surfing the Nations

Dear Family and Friends:
Aloha! This is Clay Franks. As many of you know, since my accident I have been trying to find my way. After coming back to a relationship with Christ, I now feel like God has called me to follow Jesus through Surfing the Nations program. Through this program, I will be given the opportunity to travel and to share my love with the people on the island of Oahu, and other Hawaiian Islands.
When most people think of Hawaii, they might think of the beautiful beaches or the fancy resorts, but what many people don’t know is that much of Hawaii is extremely impoverished. In the heart of Oahu live the locals who spend a big portion of their lives on the streets with very little to eat. When times are low, many of these residents will turn to drugs and other temporary things to numb themselves. When people are so focused on figuring out how to provide their families with safe living conditions, the kids are often left behind to fend for themselves. Surfing the Nations is a non-faith-based ministry facilitated by followers of Jesus Christ that provides hope to the weary and down-hearted people of Oahu and other sister islands.
As I have learned firsthand, there is nothing that can completely turn situations around like the love of Jesus Christ. John 13:35 says, “By this everyone will know that you are my Disciples, if you love one another”. I love how simple this is; all we need to do is love people. While on the island I will be joining other surfers called to minister, feed, rebuild and give hope to those in need. We will reach out to the hungry and give them food. We will also be focusing a lot on the kids by teaching them how to surf, building relationships, and teaching them about the love of Christ--simply loving them. Finally, this is a character development program that through enhancement courses will help prepare me for my future wherever God leads me.
Mission work like this can be expensive, and I would not be able to make this happen on my own. The amount required to make this possible is $3,750. I am asking for your generosity and partnership in my ministry while I follow God’s calling. Therefore, any financial support (regardless of the amount) along with your prayers would be helpful and appreciated. Unfortunately, Surfing the Nations does not take direct donations for designated missionaries, so I do not have a tax ID number per your donations. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of supporting my mission.
God bless,
Clay Franks
