Clay's Triathlon for Pilots for Christ

I realize much of my life has been in my comfort zone to glorify or serve myself. However, it is GOD that deserves ALL the glory in our lives. John 3:30 teaches that we must become LESS, so that God can become MORE in our lives. I want to do something bigger than myself and spread love into the world. To do that, I will be training for and racing in an Olympic distance triathlon to glorify God and raise money for a meaningful charity in my life: Pilots for Christ.

I will be fundraising for the first time in my life I saw God’s power. As long as I live, I will never forget the day that my family heard the dreadful news - that my uncle Jeff, my dad’s brother, had a Blastoglioma: a terminal brain cancer. As we all know, cancer is a viscous disease that attacks relentlessly and does not discriminate. My uncle was told he had a few months to live - he was fighting a cancer that doctors still know very little about. Through prayer and the grace of God, Jeff battled the cancer and was able to live four years after his diagnosis. God provided avenues of help to Jeff at times that can only be described as miracles.  God is the way-maker, a miracle worker, and works constantly in our lives even when we fail to see it. We have been blessed with a God who ALWAYS hears our cries for help.

 
I will dedicate my training and race in Jeff Castleberry’s memory.  I will raise money for a charity that was essential in his fight with cancer. Pilots for Christ serves to provide FREE flights to people in desperate need in the name of Jesus. They were quintessential in flying Jeff to Boston where he was able to receive treatments that extended his life a precious four years. I hope my race and fundraising will help promote the mission of Pilots for Christ and allow them to help more people, like my uncle Jeff, for years to come.
