4/27/2023 Just an update on Clay. He is currently out of the hospital. They are continuing blood thinners to break up the clot in his leg. Since the outcome is still unknown, we just wait to see if that helps. Your support, love and prayers help more than you know. And please share. Hi, my name is Lezlie and Clayton is my son. If you can find it in your heart, he needs help with medical bills, living expenses, and funds for possible future surgeries. Ten days ago Clay showed up at the ER with a painful swollen leg and was sent home on blood thinners as it was a blood clot. He had his gallbladder removed about 8 weeks prior and it was assumed it was from that. As a day or two went on, he continued to worsen. He was admitted on Friday, April 14th. In a short time, it was discovered that Clay had a larger issue. He had a congenital vascular anomaly that was going to cause problems with how this blood clot in the leg was taken care of. The diagnosis he has is Inferior Vena Cava Atresia. This is an extremely rare condition affecting approximately 1% of the general population. He had surgery Friday to insert a catheter in the vein in the back of his leg allowing them to use blood thinners and other tools to break up the clot. Saturday he would go into surgery again with no success. It had become too life-threatening to continue.
