Clayton’s Eyes

My name is Jessica and our family organized this fundraiser on behalf of my brother, Clayton. On July 8th, 2023 there was an unfortunate accident involving fireworks, in which Clayton suffered severe and permanent injuries. His right eye globe was completely ruptured. His left eye has scarring from shrapnel and has severely limited his vision. He also sustained multiple fractures on his face and a broken nose. His hand is covered in 2nd degree burns. After the incident, Clayton spent 5 days at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Center City, Philadelphia where he was cared for by various specialists and medical experts. Clayton faces a long road of surgeries and procedures to repair the damage to his face and eyes. Though we don’t know what the total expenses will be, we do believe inevitably they will be overwhelming. For this reason we are seeking as much help as possible. Any generosity and consideration for our circumstances will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.

**December 2023 Update:** It has been an interesting and difficult road so far, but overall he is doing well. Clayton needed surgery ASAP but it took months of searching for a doctor that would perform it, because of the nature of the injuries. On 9/1/23 Clayton had a major facial surgery involving his eye globe, orbital floor, sinus cavity, forehead, facial reconstruction... there were a lot of things done. He also had some plates put in his face to help areas where bone had been shattered. Needless to say, the recovery and healing process was less than fun. However, Clayton has managed to stay mostly positive throughout this whole difficult circumstance. He has faced multiple other challenges since the accident, but is persevering as we had faith that he would. I want to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words, and I want to thank those who have donated to help. We are still not sure what the future holds for Clayton, or what surgeries or assistive devices he may require- but we know that he will get through this with his faith, and the support of his family and his friends. ❤️
