Clean Air Club loves Chicago's music and arts scene and want to see it thrive. We believe that focusing on indoor air quality during an ongoing pandemic is one of the ways that we can protect the health and safety of everyone in this community. It’s good for performers, it’s good for us, and it’s good for the long-term health of our thriving creative scene.
If an event or a venue has the Clean Air Club logo, it means that the space has HEPA air purification in the room, ensuring covid-safer air and reducing the number of airborne pathogens in rooms.
In practical terms, this means that an event with the CAC stamp of approval is less likely to be one in which covid and other respiratory diseases are spread. While there is still a risk of catching covid when we are in public, there are many ways to mitigate that risk (including masks, staying home when sick, etc.). Air filtration is an important and under-utilized element of this multifaceted risk-mitigation effort.
Clean Air Club is launching April 1, 2023 with its first Clean Air shows in Chicago. To make this happen, we are raising funds to purchase 3 Blast Mini Mk II Air Purifiers plus replacement filters. These will allow us to filter clean air in small to medium-sized DIY shows at the rate necessary for Covid safety:
