Clean Water for Naning'Oi Primary School: Kenya

Before I tell you what we're doing, let me give you some important context...

Nanning’oi is a Primary boarding school for girls in remote Kenya, Mosiro, that not only provides an education but also provides a safe haven to live and grow. Many of the girls physically run away from their villages, sleeping out in the Mara over night, alone, in order to escape FGM or child marriage as this is still common practice. The school currently have 320 students enrolled however, a lack of consistent funding and resources have begun to affect not only the buildings in which they live, but their access to clean water and food. Within the past six months girls have been unable to concentrate in class due to malnourishment.

If you have an abundance of anything, be it money, experience, knowledge or time, it is essential to share it with those who do not. Right?

Plumpton College and Sarah, Founder of Successful Directions Tutoring, have joined together to raise funds to support the purchase and installation of a sustainable solar powered bore-hole to enable the girls at Naning’Oi access to consistent clean water. In addition to this, at a later date, we aim to fund the repairing of an underground water tank ** GREAT NEWS - we were able to raise enough money and repaired this in September! 

This current project informs the groundwork of the next step in supporting the school - The Permaculture Collaboration Project.
The access to water is the first step required in a much BIGGER vision!

We will continue to fundraise and support the implementation and development of an organic permaculture site at the school to fight hidden hunger. Not only will this serve the girls of the school, but the teachers whom live there too. YOU have the opportunity to support an entire generation become fully self-supporting, learn new skills and implement these into their communities when they leave the gates of the school. YOUR funding and continued support will enable the young girls of Naning’Oi to become self-sufficient women for a lifetime. What a gift.

With your help and our determination, we know the ambition to fundraise this money in such trying times due to Covid-19 is audacious, but we believe it is achievable. The distance between a dream and reality is ACTION!

Please note: All money raised for building work goes straight to  our contractors Davis&Shirtliff who have carried out the building of the water storage tank. There is no "middle man" and so all funds raised go directly to the school. 

Any additional funds will be used to improve the girls education and well-being and will be sent straight to the school.
