Clean Water for Village in Nigeria
Tax deductible
Dear friends,
Never has the need for clean water been so apparent as during the COVID pandemic. In parts of Nigeria, communities don't even have access to water to wash their hands! In the village of Mararaba Udege:
-Kids walk 3 kilometers one-way to the nearest water source, a stream that dries up every dry season
-Students skip school or drop out, spending the hours they could be in school carrying water for their families
-Girls risk assault and subsequent pregnancy during the long walk to water
-Unclean water results in thousands of cases of cholera and typhoid every year
Bright Minds Nigeria, an international nonprofit founded by my friend Gina Dettmer, is partnering with local laborers to drill through rock to reach aquifers far beneath the surface. For $3,000, we can fund a well that will provide clean water to up to 2,000 people. Bright Minds has already built one well in Mararaba Udege, as you can see in the video, and has raised the funds for two more. Join me in funding a fourth well!
All donations will be processed by Philanthropic Ventures Foundation, a registered charity in Oakland, so your gift will be tax-deductible.
While we have all been impacted by the pandemic, some families have been affected far greater than others. Join me in making this world a more equitable place by providing 2,000 people with access to clean water.
Thank you!
