Cleaning up Bury St Edmunds
Donation protected
Hi! We are Ross and Liz, and we are cleaning up Bury St Edmunds, one bag at a time. In the last year alone, we have picked over 200 bags of litter from our streets, rivers and green spaces. You might have seen us out and about in our hi-vis jackets, and we really appreciate your support.
We started litter picking in the town centre, where we were shocked by how much rubbish we found. We cleaned up the messy Tayfen Road, with all sorts of fast food packaging and piles of beer bottles strewn in the bushes. We have picked the entire Parkway several times, where drivers toss all manner of rubbish out their car windows. We regularly pick the area around the train station, so that visitors to the town are not bombarded with litter as their first impression of Bury.
In recent months we have branched out to the big roundabouts around town, which are a bit of a disaster. Anyone who has driven on the A14 will know how much rubbish there is along the roadside. While it is sadly too dangerous for us to pick the dual carriageway, we have started tackling the woodland areas nearby, where we find a staggering amount of rubbish accumulates in the trees and undergrowth.
If you are interested in our work, please consider making a donation towards our cause. While we receive basic supplies from the council, we are volunteering a lot of our free time and would appreciate any support. Funds will go towards buying new equipment and cover our fuel costs, helping us to get out and do even more of this work. We guarantee that all donations will help to protect our environment and make our lovely town look clean and tidy for everyone.
Thank you!
