Operation Labour Day 2016
Donation protected
One hundred and thirty-four (134) years old on a hill in Stewart Town, Trelawny stands Westwood High School. This school for girls is one of the few remaining boarding institutions at the secondary level in Jamaica. Westwood has developed a reputation of turning out young ladies with grace, poise and decorum. Always recognized by our Jippi Jappa hats and blue tunics, graduates have done well in many spheres of life including, education, journalism, law, politics and medicine among others. In recent years, the school has remained among the top 10 schools based on performance in CSEC examinations.
This year the Westwood Old Girls’ Association (WOGA) will embark on a Labour Day project that will focus on re-facing the quadrangle, entrance and other needy areas of the school. The rooms on the quadrangle, for example, serve as classrooms, but as they are some of the oldest buildings in the school and have deteriorated to great extent. Our project will entail repairing and painting them. The Westwood High School ladies work tirelessly to keep their environment clean however, the condition of the buildings as they stand, take away from the aesthetics and sometimes serves a distraction from the main objective, which is to learn.
Due to resource constraints, funding for these fixes are not forthcoming so WOGA has adopted this project and seeks your assistance to bring it to fruition. We expect that these tasks may not be resolved solely on Labour Day but we will see this through its completion. For guaranteed success of this project we anticipate your support and thank you for your donation.
**Campaign ends Sunday May 8th, 2016.
