Clear Sky Madison's short term goal is to raise funds to oppose High Impact Land Use (HILU) Industries in Madison County, NC

On Nov 16th, 2022 Madison County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a moratorium on special use permits for Biomass Energy Facilities.

This is not our first rodeo:

Clear Sky Madison backed a court appeal that lost in the North Carolina Court of Appeals. We also filed as attorney pro se to challenge the issuance of an air quality permit by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ). When it came time to lawyer up to continue this Department of Air Quality (DAQ) permit appeal, CSM was advised that our chances of winning were less than 20%

Clear Sky Madison (CSM) is a 501C3 charitable organization under the sponsorship of Mountain True. We became active in April, 2021.

With funding, we can expand operations. We want to create a documentary about High Impact Land Use (HILU) challenges in Western North Carolina.

As a result of the moratorium, expectations are that Clear Sky Madison will be part of a working group that will include Madison County, NC Commissioners to develop County Land Use Ordinance rules. These new industry specific rules should keep Heavy Manufacturing, High Impact Land Use industries (Godzilla Size) like Biomass from taking over towns and operating with seeming impunity to environmental laws in Western North Carolina and the Southeast.
