Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery: Guatemala Mountains

Hello Everyone!

I will be heading back to the mountains of Guatemala at the end of February with a surgical team to serve the indigenous population of the surrounding area. My focus will be Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery for babies and young children. We plan to operate on anywhere between 30-50 babies over seven days. The parents of these children often travel by foot/bus/donkey for numerous days, or even weeks, to reach the makeshift hospital where we will be operating.

I will be traveling with HELPS International and a small group of surgeons providing pro bono work. The group of us who go to provide care will be staying in tents for the duration of the mission. All of us live much more privileged lives than these patients. Any contributions you can make will go towards purchasing medical equipment/resources for these babies and their parents.
