Cleo's Hero Arm fund
Hello everyone, my name is Cleo Jemima Bird, I am 10 years old and come from Solihull in England.
I have an older sister and a younger brother and am just like any other 10 year old girl. I like singing, doing gymnastics, and playing with my dog ‘Waffles’ in my spare time. I also enjoy rock climbing and do horse riding occasionally.
When I was a baby my left arm didn’t develop below the elbow which makes me a little different from other children. I used to use my left arm to carry my teddy around with me when I was younger.
I have always tried to do my best to do what other children can do, just as well as them - rock climbing or horse riding would be good examples of this.
However some of the every day activities that other children take for granted can be more difficult for me. This includes opening a bottle, jar, or holding a toothbrush whilst squeezing out the toothpaste.
I have seen the Hero Arms from Open Bionics and after watching the clips online, I would really like to have one. I have tried out a 3D printed arm before but it didn’t really do anything. I like how the Hero Arms are functional and can twist and grip. It could help me to hold things with my left arm such as a cup. The Hero Arm also comes with Disney covers which I think look really cool. I would love to turn up at secondary school on the first day and look and feel like a superhero.
It would be great if you could give anything to help me to get a Hero Arm and if you cant afford to give, please share my story so that lots of people hear about me and can help me.
Thank you very much
Love Cleo x
I'm raising money through The Open Bionics Foundation, and any donation will go directly to them and help towards buying my Hero Arm. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
