AML. Three letters no one wishes to hear at thirty-two years young.
On February 17th, Laura found herself at an Argentinian medical facility, having felt sickly for quite some time. With no appetite, severely fatigued, and having noticed frequent bruising, she knew it was time for answers regarding her health. After her medical review, she became anxious, awaiting a diagnosis in the examining room. The doctor finally arrived, and time stood still as the words slowly left his mouth – Leukemia. No one is ever prepared to receive such news. Not ever. But it was time to act.
Shortly after, her father boarded a plane to scoop up his little girl in Argentina only to hop on a returning flight to Houston, TX where they'd be transported directly to MD Anderson Cancer Center. After examinations and blood transfusions, a bone marrow biopsy was conducted, resulting in an official diagnosis of AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).
Currently, an aggressive form of chemotherapy has been chosen for treatment. In Laura’s words, “I’m about to get hit with a chemo truck, but I’m ready. Are you ready to watch me kick cancer's ass?" In true Laura-nature, she’s prepared to take this journey head-on, and we’d expect nothing less. The outpouring of love and support she has received has been astounding, and she feels it from every direction.
The funds raised will help with her medical costs associated with her treatment at MD Anderson. We would love nothing more than for you to become a member of her ‘Support Squad’ with us. Continue the prayers as she continues her fight. God bless.
