Clifford, the big, not so red, dog
Donation protected
This sweetheart came tumbling in through our Emergency doors and could really use your help.
You see I’m an emergency veterinarian and as some of you may know all too well, we’re often faced with heartbreaking stories and tough decisions. Many of which don’t have the chance at a happy ending but with your help, Clifford can be an exception.
Clifford is a 9 month old male neutered certified good boy. (Akita? Husky? German Shepherd? Malinois? Lab? All the above? Who cares when you’re this sweet). He came into my world when his dads heard he needed a surgery for a probable salivary mucocele. A middle of the night trip to the ER for a closer look showed his primary veterinarian was on the right track. Unfortunately surgical correction was not feasible for the family and they returned mere days later seeking euthanasia.
A salivary mucocele is a leakage of saliva from the salivary glands typically as the result of unknown trauma. The saliva leaks into the surrounding tissues resulting in inflammation and swelling with Clifford’s occurring under the chin. Definitive diagnosis and treatment involves a CT scan and surgery. Long term prognosis following initial recovery (2-3 weeks) is ✨EXCELLENT✨. But this type of procedure costs ~$7-10K with a surgeon.
Given his otherwise healthy puppy status and amazing temperament, myself and my amazing team were able to convince his family that euthanasia was not the right call but unfortunately, they left without him.
Any dollar raised will go directly toward treatment and hopefully together we can change the course of his young life.
A like, a share or a dollar will go a long ways.
Oh, and did I mention he’s looking for a forever home after recovery? If this could be you or one of your connections, please please share.
Clifford thinks it’s a good day to be alive!
