Clifton Hill Meadow

Donation protected
Would you like a lovely wildflower meadow on Clifton Hill Bank – the grassy slope below the churchyard? We would, and we told the council that 99% of people in our public consultation were in favour. And the council gave the go-ahead! But we need your help to make it happen.

Most of the popular existing daffodils will stay, and the council will pay for two-thirds of the site to be a wildflower ‘floral lawn’, kept relatively short but still rich with pollen for wildlife. And still suitable for picnics!

The westernmost third of the slope will be a stunning wildflower meadow, full of pollen for our bee and butterfly friends. The council can’t pay for this– so we must!

We need:

· £300 for wildflower seed to sow in the next few weeks
· £100 for non-plastic signage explaining what’s happening – crucial for public support
· £1,000 for plug plants to go in next spring. Every pound we raise towards this stage of the project will help us bring the meadow along faster, making it beautiful more quickly to keep the public onside and inspire the spread of meadows across Bristol!

The meadow already has hundreds of supporters and we hope you’ll join them and donate to make the meadow a reality.

And if you’d like to help us on the ground, we need volunteers to do the gardening work! You can find out more here.

We look forward to a lovely meadow in full flower next summer!

With thanks,
Nicola Earnshaw, Treasurer of West Bristol Climate Action
