Climb for Maggie's Forth Valley and Falkirk Fury
Donation protected
This June, I will be climbing another Munro, Ben Lomond, with an aim to raise £5000, this will be split between Maggie's Forth Valley centre and Falkirk Fury basketball club. any money that we raise will be trebled, up to £5000, we have two donors of which one will match and the other will double match. We would love your support and all donations are greatly appreciated by these amazing charities.
In April 2022, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, as you can imagine, this was a real shock to me, and my family and I spent most of 2022 getting intensive chemotherapy treatment as an inpatient in Forth Valley Hospital. The care I received from all the NHS staff was phenomenal, and I am happy to say that I have now been in remission since 2023 and on the journey to try to get back to full fitness.
Before I was diagnosed with cancer, I played for the Falkirk Fury basketball club for over 30 years, I also played professional basketball for 6 years and was selected to play in the European championships for the Great Britain Maxi basketball team.
My goal now is to get back to where I was and I am happy to say that I back playing for Falkirk Fury and I have been selected again to play in the European championships for the GB maxi team in Italy, in June this year.
I wanted to give back to the charities that have helped me the most through this, Maggie's and Falkirk Fury basketball giving me the motivation to get back to play in a sport I love and for all the support received in Forth Valley.
