Clint's Recovery

If you are visiting this page, we assume you already know that Clint was critically injured in his home in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday December 1, 2018. Tragically, he slipped and fell down his staircase. Clint was found at the bottom of his stairs approximately 18 hours later with significant injuries to his neck and cervical spine. Clint was rushed to the Foothills Hospital where he underwent a gruelling 4 hour surgery where metal rod and bolts were inserted into his neck and spine and he was placed on a ventilator. We were told by his surgeon that his injuries were so severe that he would most likely never walk again.
Clint spent two weeks in ICU on a ventilator and feeding tube. He is now able to breathe unassisted and eat regular food however he has minimal movement in his arms and legs. He requires daily assistance with simple tasks such as feeding, drinking and hygiene. It is now a painstaking waiting game to see how he will fare over the weeks and months as his body slowly recovers from the surgery and initial trauma of the incident.
Clint may never walk again but we hope and pray he regains the use of his arms, hands and fingers. He has such a positive outlook and we will do nothing but support him in his uphill battle.
It has now been 7 weeks since the injury and this tragic accident has changed Clint's life forever. His condition requires a variety of medical and rehabilitative therapies to provide the best quality of life possible. Clint remains on Unit 58 at the Foothills Hospital where he is working very hard on his recovery.
We are looking to renovate his home in an effort to make it wheelchair accessible and to meet his ongoing needs. Clint will be fitted with a power wheelchair and will be seeking private physiotherapy. He may also require 24 hour care. The medical costs will be significant and any gifts of financial support that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. The goal is to help Clint become independent again.
Please know that your generosity means more to our family than we can say. Thank you for all your love and support. We will do our best to keep everyone updated on Clint’s recovery and ask that everyone continues to keep Clint in their thoughts and prayers.
Clint amazes us everyday with how strong he is and his sense of humour; traits that he’s used to carry him through from day one!
