Clint's Dream Trip

Good day. My name is Tish Sock-Sachetti and I am the proud Mom of two amazing sons (both of whom, I love more than life): Clint Sock and C.J. Liu. I may be bias but I feel that both of my sons are pretty terrific and wonderful young men and I am extremely proud of who they are. They believe in working hard, giving back to their community, helping others, treating people with respect, and always living a life with integrity. In respect to both of my sons, they would literally take the shirt off of their back and give it to anyone who needed it. They both love helping others and know that helping others is a way of sharing love. I also have the privilege of being employed by HRCE and working with some of the most wonderful co-workers, amazing young people in the world (whom I love dearly), as well as their families.

C.J., my youngest, is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and recently graduated from Saint Mary’s University. When C.J. is not busy with the military, he has many varied interests. C.J. is also one of Clint’s biggest cheerleaders. Clint, my oldest, is a talented musician whose music is used in schools across Canada and Clint is also a Crossing Guard. Many people know Clint from Clint being the crossing guard on the St. Margaret’s Bay Road, at the corner of the ‘Bay Road and Fenerty Road, for children going to Springvale Elementary School and the Halifax Christian Academy. Clint was at that location for almost 10 years. Clint loved his job and loved seeing the children every day. Clint always tried to put a smile on every child’s face as well as on the faces of those who would drive past him at his crosswalk. Clint has been on a medical leave of absence from work for the past while due to his health and it has been very difficult for Clint to not be physically able to work. He misses everyone.

As some of you know, Clint has had life threatening health issues since he was a tiny little guy... Well, things got progressively worse over the past year and they are not good. Besides everything else Clint has going on, Clint has multiple Pulmonary Embolisms (PEs). Clint is in non-stop pain, not discomfort but actual pain, every minute of every day. We are not sure of what else medically, that can be done at this point in time. The doctors are treating Clint for the pain, but are limited in what they can do for pain management due to Clint’s other health issues. On top of all of this, Clint shattered his leg in July during the first massive rain storm and he is still having extreme difficulties with it. Prior to the leg injury Clint could only walk about 10 feet maximum due to the PEs and needed a wheelchair, now Clint is completely wheelchair bound. Clint shares his heart with everyone who has the privilege of crossing his path in any fashion. Clint would love to go on a dream vacation so I want to do all I can to take him on one before things get any worse.

Clint is not able to fly due to the PEs so I will be driving him for his trip. Clint would love to go to Toronto for the Pacific Center Mall for his favorite BBQ pork and to meet David Strickland- an Indigenous music producer. Clint loves music and is a wonderful rapper in his own right. My hope is to take Clint on his trip as soon as we are able to have the funds to do so. Because of Clint’s needs, the trip will be expensive. That includes food, gas, a van rental for two weeks (I need to rent a van in order to fit all of Clint's 'stuff' such as the wheelchair, walker, etc.. It is going to take around 3 days to drive to Toronto and then 3 days back. Due to Clint’s health, travel time is limited.) We are hoping to be in Toronto for a week to allow Clint to see David Strickland, and his BBQ pork and allowing for rest days in between. We will be staying in Airbnbs that are wheelchair accessible and allow for Clint’s little dog, Annie, to be with him.
