I’ve spent this past year doing cooking demos on the streets and parks in low-income neighborhoods, teaching people how to create great tasting healthy meals and non-toxic personal products on a tight budget. I met so many women who felt powerless and that their life was just for the service of someone else. I often heard, “I don’t have time to think about myself because my _____ (family, job, friend…) needs me.” The spark of the possibility of true bliss for themselves was absent in their eyes.
Those streets made me look in the mirror and realize that I had a lot in common with these women and I needed some help… some self-help.
It is our nature to nurture and care but we usually spend our lifetime fighting for others, giving to others, and loving everyone else with little thought of our own needs. From past events, I had equated my happiness with the pain of what others might think about me achieving. Now, I am determined to stand in my power and show me some LOVE… Someone said, “If you look in the mirror and your hair is a mess… don’t brush the mirror… brush your hair.” IT ALL STARTS WITHIN! Since I started doing this inner work, I committed, to the little girl in me, that I will do the work to be the best ME that I can be and I will tell other little girls how I did it. Like most women, I have not been a good receiver. Doing this campaign to allow the Universe to give to me via the kindness of others and to honestly be willing to receive has been one of the hardest things I have had to do. Talk about removing blocks… geez!
The money for this campaign is for this high level 21 day Inner Awakening yoga and meditation retreat in India (www.innerawakening.org) between January 27-February 16, 2015. I only have a short window of time to raise the funds and to be on time for this life-changing event at this very spiritual place on earth. This will help me make a difference to the communities where I serve and contribute to evolving human consciousness.
