Watkins Hornets(Clockboyz) to Nationals

Donation protected
For many years, Watkins has been known as the “Football Factory”. Our scholar-athletes leave our program prepared to compete at the highest level, both in life and on the football field.     We have great news! Our 11U team is having a successful season and are on track to compete in the 2019 American Youth Football League National Championship and also the 2019 Youth National Championship, sponsored by Battle. The National Championships will be held December 7th – 13th 2019 in Orlando, Florida, for the AYF  league and December 13th-19th for YNC league in Ft Lauderdale, Florida.    Ranking 5th in the nation and number 1 in the DMV, these young men could be doing anything else, but they chose to play football, make good grades and create a brotherhood that's exceptional. The “Clockboyz” is what we call them, because when we play teams we always beat them until the clock runs out. They even made a song and a video describing their team and teammates, the praise they give each other throughout the song is out of this world, clean lyrics, promoting positivity, changing lives, all while having fun. These 29 young men, age 11,  have worked hard to overcome adversity and challenges in order to represent the Nation’s Capital. As an organization housed in Ward 6, our mission is to:          • Provide youth with organized competition in a safe environment        • Unite our youth through common interest in sportsmanship and competition        • Instill the values of education        • Acquaint the players with the fundamentals of football        • Teach sportsmanship, discipline and love of the game        • Require that the players maintain satisfactory grades in school and emphasize the importance of keeping a               proper relationship and balance between scholastic and athletic endeavors    Unfortunately, our annual budget is not adequate enough to cover the full amount of our team’s expenses. Although we’ve held numerous fundraisers, parents and coaches still had to contribute money from their own pockets to help cover the team’s expenses. This year we are turning to the community and our extended families to ask      for support. If you could help us with a donation of any amount to cover expenses for the National Championship, it will be greatly appreciated.     Listed below are our areas of need:  Team Sweatsuits: $700.00  Travel and lodging (Flights, hotel accommodations and meals): $20,000.00    Your contribution will help fulfill the hopes and dreams of our youth. We thank you for your time, consideration and support! Please remember that all donations are tax deductible.    Sincerely,  Drema Brown, Watkins 11u Team Mom Watkins Hornets Youth Association [phone redacted] [email redacted]
