Clothes and Food to Freezing Refugees
There is a humanitarian disaster unfolding in Bosnia, where thousands of refugees and migrants are stranded without food, proper clothes or shelter. Most of them have walked more than 3,000 miles to escape violent terrorism, hunger, and persecution in their home countries but have found only hostility in Europe. Recently, Bosnian government has outlawed any distribution of aid to refugees and migrants, making it extremely dangerous to support them with even basic living necessities.
My name is Katie Finn and in 2020 I was completing my Master's at the University of Edinburgh where I was studying the Syrian Civil War and the resulting refugee crisis in Europe. After graduation I volunteered in Bosnia, distributing emergency supplies in secret, at constant risk of deportation. Thanks to support from friends and family, we were able to equip 175 men with coats, gloves, socks, hats and food. Now, the deadly winter is fully upon them and the situation is much worse. They are trying to survive snowstorms, frostbite and hunger with little support from official organizations and without help, I believe that many innocent lives will be lost. That’s why I am raising funds to get them food and cold-weather gear and let them know that they have not been forgotten. My goal is to outfit 500 men with warm clothes, sleeping bags and food as soon as possible, and I hope you will help me. It's true that even small actions have power and every gift counts now. If you cannot give today, I would be grateful if you would share this with your network and spread the word. If you have any questions about the crisis or my work, or would like to support in another way, feel free to email me at [email redacted]
Thank you and best wishes to all.
