Cloughduv GAA Against the Clock – 1000km in 24hours
Cloughduv GAA Players and Management will be completing a virtual run against the clock from Mizen Head to Malin Head and back home to Cloughduv GAA, A grand total of 1010km in 24hours. The charity run will take place on 30th/31st May 2020 all in aid of Cuan Mhuire Addiction Centre Farnanes, Co. Cork.
Each participant will have an allocated time slot to run as far as they can in 60 minutes.
All participants will;
- run within a 5km radius of their homes
- complete two runs over the 24 hours
All distances will be tracked and added together to make it back home before the clock runs out!!
All proceeds raised will be donated to Cuan Mhuire Addiction Centre which is based locally in Farnanes.

Cuan Mhuire, Farnanes is a residential addiction treatment centre which caters for the needs of women suffering from all addictions. We are 1 of only 2 treatment centres in Ireland that provide residential methadone detox for women.
Cuan Mhuire provide treatment to people from all walks of life. Apart from addiction, many of the women in our care have also struggled with other underlining issues that need addressing such as homelessness, domestic/sexual violence, mental health issues, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eating disorders and more.
Drug, Prescribed Medication and Dual Diagnoses (mental health and addiction) treatment programmes are for a 20-week . The alcohol programme is for a duration of 12 weeks.
Cuan Mhuire Farnanes Bed Capacity:
34 Rehabilitation beds.
8 Detoxification Beds.
2 of which are for methadone detox.
42 Total bed capacity.
In 2019 alone we had a total of 243 admissions to our treatment facility.
The Programme involves
Detoxification (managed 24hrs a day by medical staff). Group therapy, one to one counselling, mindfulness, AA/NA AL ANON meetings, workshops such as pottery, card making, yoga, horticulture and other forms of diversional therapy, Literacy Classes, Anger Management, Parenting classes, Family support programme, 2 year aftercare programme, outreach programme, and option of step down supported housing while interacting back into society. The programme involves a 24hr help line as there are staff on duty 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.
