CLUB A KITCHEN COMMUNITY AID FUND FOR COVID-19

Donation protected
Club A Kitchen is a mutual aid group based around the intersection of Myrtle & Broadway in Brooklyn, NY. Every Saturday, for over a year, we have been distributing hot food, and often free clothes & harm reduction supplies to the houseless and marginalized community - those most neglected by the state. Our fundraising efforts help to redistribute resources to people who have little to no access to basic needs. We aim for Club A Kitchen to be a reliable and consistent facet & stream of resources for those who experience uncertainty and instability in their daily lives.

We recently reached our fundraising goal of 6,000 for our campaign started last Spring! Thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered, and helped to organize. Those donations, combined with funds raised at benefit events have helped sustain this project for many, many months! We appreciate you from the bottom of our hearts, and we can promise we are not the only ones.

We are now reaching out amidst the global pandemic of COVID-19, with a new goal. We seek to raise $5000 (though that is subject to increase, or decrease as the situation develops) to help support this project for the next 2.5 months. Because of the circumstances and all of the complications that have arisen with the onset of this outbreak (ie: food safety, cleanliness, and the need to organize whilst social distancing), we have decided to shift gears. We will hold off on hot/cooked food distribution after Saturday, March 21st, and continue our efforts, aiming to sustain the community by giving out supplies we see as a little bit more substantial, tangibly impactful, and practical at this time.

We are raising money for:
- Non-perishables that DO NOT NEED TO BE COOKED/HEATED UP (pre-packaged/ready to eat meals, canned food such as meat, beans, chili, canned fish... etc.)
- Snacks (crackers, granola bars, etc.)
- Supplies to make hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes
- Gallons of water
- Socks & underwear
- Soap sheets
- Menstrual supplies
- Vitamins

We are also considering reaching out to local bodegas to see if we can get store credit vouchers that people can use to buy what they want, while continuing to support local community businesses that have been hit very hard by the situation. We plan to print off info sheets about how the virus is spread, updates about the current situation, and details of precautionary measures for those who perhaps don't have steady access/any access at all to news or media.

If you would like to donate any of the above-mentioned goods, please feel free to get in touch. Please pass this around and share widely. This is the time to show up for a part of the community that is faced with blatant disregard and neglect as those in power fail to extend help to hundreds of at risk people. Let us help each other & keep each other safe.

*For transparency purposes, the money raised here gets deposited directly into the person who created this campaign's bank account. They are a member of Club A Kitchen, and live in Bushwick, Brooklyn. ALL of the funds are allocated specifically for the buying of supplies (listed above). We typically purchase supplies in bulk online, and will be using some money to buy bodega vouchers (as confirmed with a local deli at Myrtle & Broadway).*
