Habitat for Humanity - Vietnam 2018

In 1998, I had my first volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in San Antonio. We were working on landscaping as finishing touches for a family, that I did not know. The next day they would officially receive their home. Working alongside the family was an incredible experience; and, the gratitude they showed for every effort was humbling in a way that words cannot describe. I was forever changed and realized, how a house became a home.

Nailing shingles, installing plumbing, working on foundation, and putting in a dryer flute are a few of the pieces that I’ve taken part in with various builds. I have given one day to different families that are somewhere in their journey. These individual days have been a blessing and have allowed me to give to a process that immeasurably changes the life of a family.

In April, I am traveling to Hoa Binh, Vietnam with Habitat for Humanity Global Village program. There, I will join a team of strangers and a family for a new build. This time, however, will be different. Over the course of 5 days, from start to finish, we will build an entire home. I am by no means a journeyman, however what I can do, I will do.
