Richmond Marathon for CMV Action!
I will be running the Richmond marathon in September to raise money to benefit CMV ACTION and would love your support. Cytomegalovirus, or CMV, is a common virus and although it will cause no harm to the majority of the population, it can pose a serious risk to an unborn baby if a pregnant woman catches it.
This virus has had a big impact on my family as my older sister Penny was affected by the virus. Penny is deaf, partially sighted and has profound learning difficulties. She is now 36 and lives in supported living but is just a 30-minute drive away from home. She loves being in her wheelchair and being out and about - car trips, and walks (she didn't fancy the marathon though). Similar to Pen, I also like being out and about and have always wanted to run a marathon, but running to support this amazing charity and others who suffer from the virus will be extra special.
CMV Action needs help supporting those affected and spreading awareness about the virus. Any donations big or small would be greatly appreciated.
