Sarah's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On Monday August 31st a dear friend of many, Sarah Land, became ill and unresponsive in her home. With the help from some friends she was able to get to Northern Inyo Hospital for a CAT scan. While looking at the scan, the doctors found a large tumor in her brain. Not having the resources to provide the best care for Sarah, the hospital decided to airlift her to Renown Medical Center in Reno where she is now receiving full time care. While in the ICU her mass in the brain shifted and the fluid causing her to become unconscious, drained. Thankfully, on September 2nd in the evening, Sarah regained consciousness and is now coherent.
Sarah is a long time local to the Bishop area and great friends with much of the community. She is a cheerful person with a contagious laugh that will always make you smile. She is an avid rock climber and lover of the outdoors. She has many adventures under her belt with various friends and colleagues. She brings joy to this community and all the people she interacts with. Right now Sarah’s sister, mother and father are in Reno supporting her.
On the evening of September 3rd Sarah underwent a biopsy of her tumor. This will inform the doctors on whether the tumor is malignant and the makeup of the tumor itself. We are hoping for the best possible prognosis. Unfortunately, she will have to wait until Thursday at the earliest for the lab results. It is a waiting game for all of us as we desperately hope for the best possible outcome.
This page has been created in hopes to provide friends, colleagues and loved ones updates on Sarah’s health as we all navigate this difficult time. She has a loving community and support system that should be able to stay up to date on her condition. We will do our best to provide the most recent information regarding her circumstances. If you or anyone you know wish to support Sarah, we ask that you either share this page or graciously donate.
Sarah needed a life flight from Bishop to Reno that cost $83,900. At this time, we believe her insurance may cover up to $50,000 at the most. This leaves Sarah with a bill of $33,900. Any donations are greatly appreciated and we hope everyone is staying safe in these difficult times.
Thank you all.
Sincerely,
Sarah’s close friends and family.
