I'm T.C., Chris's best friend. If you already didn't know Chris left our world for the next on Tuesday March 12th, 2024. He spent a little over 3 weeks fighting a severe burn injury in the ICU at Washington Medstar Burn Center. The units Doctors, Nurses and crew were phenomenal and treated Chris with care and compassion. Unfortunately, Chris had complications that lead to his passing the beginning of his 4th week in the ICU.
I have created this to help with his expenses. Chris and his family have history rooting in Arlington VA, but family currently reside in Texas. A memorial was held for Chris on August the 17th in Falls Church, VA. I am forever grateful for those who were able to attend and held those who could not make it in my heart. I know it was hard for some not being able to attend.
I will be taking his personal items to TX from VA mid Oct. (will cease GFM at that time). Between GFM, Venmo and cash donations we have raised $2453.05. Expenses spent have been $1086.93 w/a BAL of $1366.12 to put toward getting belongings to TX.
Expenses covered included memorial service items, a uhaul van(fuel not included) to move his items to storage, containers for belongings, USPS postage/packaging, part of his last phone bill & hospital parking. Smaller items were left out of expenses cost calculation for simplification.
The van rental from NOVA to Austin will cost $757.98 with my Plus Member 5% disc.(not including road side assistance, daily rental insurance, or fuel) The vehicle will be picked up & loaded 10/12th, 10/13th-10/14th will be driving with one stop to sleep(lodging not included) & hopefully arriving by 10/14th but return date is 10/15th by noon for safe measure. Adjustments can be made as needed. The full trip is 24hrs, 1511miles. Fuel calculator estimates $200 in gas for the trip. So far everything should be covered but I will have to keep everyone posted if help is needed along the way.
Should there be a remaining amount or we raise more between now and TX. The remaining amount will be given to family to put towards amt spent on Chris’s cremation.
Special thank you goes out to my Arlington Co friends/family for being so supportive during this time and for taking care of Chris pre-hospital. I was working this night and dispatched to the call Chris was injured on. My co-workers took care of Chris before he was flown to DC. And a big Thank You to Medstar staff, there are too many names to list, you know who you are, and you are appreciated more than ever for all you do.
